Things to know ...


Times

  • Fishing is permitted from dawn to dusk getting set up
  • Please fish only from the constructed pegs
  • All nets, weighing slings and carp mats must be dipped in the net dip by the entrance gate
  • Suitable balanced tackle, an unhooking mat, a landing net and a disgorger must be used for catching and landing fish
  • Landing mats are available from Reception free of charge with a small deposit
  • Avoid fishing close to the floating islands; gabions suspended below give protection from predators
  • No boilies, nuts or ground bait

Fishery Rules

  • Fishing is only available to guests staying on the park
  • A current Environment Agency rod licence is required for anglers over 12yrs; you can purchase online or from the Post Office
  • Children under 16yrs must be supervised by an adult
  • Luscombe lake and Trusham lake are for over 18s only
  • The use of keep nets and carp sacks is prohibited
  • The use of bolt rigs is prohibited
  • Barbless hooks only

Fishing Permits

  • A valid fishing permit is required; please purchase from Reception before fishing
  • Daily or weekly permits available
  • Evening permits available from 4pm
  • One permit is required per person
  • Permits are available for one or two rods
  • Concessions are available for senior citizens and juniors

Looking after the Lakes

  • Please dispose of all litter, line and hooks responsibl in the bins provided
  • Please reel in when leaving a peg
  • Unused bait should be put in the bin
  • If you can’t resist feeding the ducks, please feed on banks and not in waters
  • Lead harms the environment; use lead-free shot only

Fish Care Policy

  • Carp unhooking mats must be set up ready to use before you start fishing
  • All fish must be netted when caught
  • Always handle fish with wet hands
  • You must carry and use a good quality, barrel type disgorger – available from the tackle shop
  • For deep hooked fish, cut line as close as possible to the hook and return fish to the water immediately
  • The use of Klin-ik antiseptic to cleanse the hook wound and any other wound is requested
  • For larger hooks, artery forceps should be used
  • Fish should be returned to the water promptly, but please do allow the fish time to recover before releasing
  • No swinging in of fish or handling of fish back to water; all fish must be returned to water using a net so there is no chance of it being dropped
