The Big Switch On of the Christmas Lights in Exeter coincides with the first night of Late Night Christmas Shopping!
Members of the Exeter Chiefs rugby team will take to the stage to officially switch on the city's festive lights. The English Premiership Champions will 'press the button' to illuminate Exeter for the festive period during the annual Christmas light switch on.
You can join the party from 4pm; there'll be local school children entertaining with a festive performance of traditional carols, followed by an evening filled with entertainment. A family friendly mix includes music from Exeter Cathedral Choristers, the Festive House Band, and Jonah & The Superband.
There's nothing like the theatre to mark the festive period and the Little Soldier theatre company will be taking to the stage with their Christmas coming-of-age quest, 'Journey to the Impossible'. Add in an exciting performance of Taiko drumming from Exeter College Performing Arts students and you have the perfect afternoon of build up to the grand switch on.
The Exeter Chief's players will be welcomed to the stage at 6.15pm for the official switch on.
In addition to all the High Street and Shopping Centre traders being open until 9pm, the Exeter Christmas Market will be buzzing with activity as shoppers check out the awesome local stalls.
In the centre of Exeter, the Cathedral is a must visit on your trip to Devon.
It's close to both the Exeter Central train station and all bus routes into the city centre.
