Exeter Christmas Market has gone from strength to strength and has become a focal point in the diaries of Christmas shoppers in the South West. This year, they have refocused on the South West, so there'll be oodles of local produce and goods to be snapped up! In our opinion there's no better holiday present than some delicious Devon Rum and Raisin Fudge or Hanlon's Ale, a real taste of the West.
There's heaps of craft, knitwear and other stalls - so you'll find a gift to put a smile on the face of even the hardest to please Great-Aunt!
Set out on the Green in Exeter City Centre, the imposing Exeter Cathedral provides a stunning illuminated backdrop to your shopping. There'll be lots of continental and local food and drink on offer, as we all need to refuel after a day trekking around the stalls!
Monday to Wednesday the market will be open between 10am and 7pm (bars will be open until 7.15pm).
Thursday to Saturday the market will be open between 10am and 9pm (bars will be open until 9.15pm).
On Sunday the market will be open between 11am and 5pm.
Exeter Cathedral is right in the middle of Exeter City Centre and is accessible by numerous car parks and the Matford Park & Ride bus service. Should you wish to leave the car at home then the Number 2 bus stops right outside of Cofton and will take you to the City Centre.
Food & Drink
Can you hear a tummy rumbling? Sorry - that's us after reading the list of tasty traders who will be present at the Christmas Market! If you're after a wood-fired pizza made freshly in front of your eyes then Flaming Good Pizza could be your first pit stop! The scents of Pancrepes sweet and savoury crepes will undoubtedly be wafting across the town; waffles, churros, and gluten & dairy free options are also available. There's never been a better time to try Spanish cuisine, and Alimentos will be hoping you stop by and try some of their oh so delicious paella!
Elk, venison and bison? Locally farmed and naturally reared, this is probably the best opportunity you have to try some of the unique meats courtesy of Bush Farm Catering! Mac & Cheese.. Yes PLEASE - Local favourite Gourmet Street Kitchen will be offering up their creative and innovative take on familiar home classics, with seasonal specials and gourmet twists. Open Sesame will be bringing exciting Persian inspired food to the street - sustainable, organic and local ingredients fuse together to set your senses alight!
The international theme continues with freshly cooked authentic Thai Food from Taste of Thailand. We can't get enough of authentic Greek Gyros, there's just something so wintery and warming about the wrapped meat - but the vegetarian option is just as good! We'll definitely be dropping by Greekook. Would it be a Christmas market without some German Bratwurst? Surely we still have room for fresh-cooked sausages from a charcoal barbeque? We recommend washing that down with a warm brew! Try Camper Coffee Co., you'll do well to walk past their distinctive coffee camper!
In the centre of Exeter, the Cathedral is a must visit on your trip to Devon.
It's close to both the Exeter Central train station and all bus routes into the city centre.
