We're passionate about nature here at Cofton - and we'd love to help future generations keep it Green!
With the help of the Devon Wildlife Trust we host pond dipping sessions throughout the school holidays - giving you the chance to learn more about these fascinating habitats!
Ponds support an immense number of plants and animals - from invertebrates such as the large red damselfly and common darter to the teeny, tiny caddisfly larvae and water boatman - you'll be in for a big surprise!
Pond dipping is something we can all do and it's loads of fun! There are all sorts of interesting creatures living in even the smallest of ponds!
We provide the following
- A net
- A tray to put the creatures you find in
- ID sheet or a pond guide
- Paper and pens
You may want to bring
- A camera to record your findings
Our next pond dipping is scheduled to take place on the 4th and 11th of April. There'll be two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Please check with Reception to confirm the times and reserve your space.
It's easy to reach Cofton Country by car. Leave the M5 motorway at junction 30. Take the A379 sign-posted Dawlish and after about 30 minutes, having passed through Kenton, Starcross and the small harbour village of Cockwood, the Park is half a mile on the left.
By public transport
The nearest train stations are Starcross, Dawlish Warren and Dawlish. From there you will be able to catch a bus which passes our entrance. For further advise on public transport please contact our reception team who will be happy to advise you on your best option.
