Family fishing holidays are a firm favourite

Cofton is the home of family fishing holidays
At Cofton we have a resident angling coach. Our family fishing coaching is a great introduction to fishing for beginners, or a stepping stone to improving entry level anglers’ skills. These sessions run weekly throughout the school holidays, including half-term.
A coaching session will be fun and informative, all equipment, tackle and bait will be provided.
You may have already met our coach Roly Palmer, and with over 30 years’ experience he knows a thing or two about getting beginners catching and enjoying fishing! For anglers aged 12 and above, a current rod licence is normally required. However, whilst under the guidance of our coach, a rod licence isn’t required. We’re sure you’ll catch the bug, so for any further fishing you will need to obtain a valid Environment Agency Rod Licence.
Included in the coaching session will be 20 minutes of private tuition and from then you’ll be set-up to fish for the rest of the day. The coach will be on hand to watch over, assist and advise for the rest of your session. The fishing takes place from our comfortable platform swims, and we can also accommodate disabled anglers with our easy access pegs.
You’ll need to book to take advantage of this superb opportunity, at only £8 per person (including the above-mentioned bait, tackle and equipment), this represents fantastic value for those looking to get into the fabulous sport that is fishing!
The coaching session will hopefully give you the confidence to fish independently for the rest of your stay! Equipment is available to hire or purchase from our tackle shop as well as ongoing advice.
We’re perfectly situated in the heart of South Devon, allowing you to make the most of your holiday in Devon. There’s so many awesome attractions waiting to be explored, and here’s some of our favourite Devon Day’s Out. Being surrounded by luscious green rolling hills can often inspire our guests to get active! The flat and accessible Exe Estuary Cycling Trail is a favourite, even for those who may be a bit wobbly on the bike! You can pick up the trail less than a mile from Cofton, heading down to Dawlish in one direction, and taking in some breathtaking panorama’s as you head up the Exe Estuary towards the regional capital of Exeter. Our handy guide to cycling holidays in Devon will give you all our favourite rides!
Cofton kids love our daytime entertainment! Kid’s Club runs daily throughout the school holidays, and our Cofton-saurus Digby will be bouncing around causing mischief! Our evening entertainment is perfect for the grown-ups to relax with a cold beverage in hand after a busy day exploring. From March to October in the Warren Retreat, you can enjoy the company of our esteemed cabaret acts!
For something a little more cosy, head to The Swan Inn. Our very own country pub serves only the finest local fares, including our personal favourite Devonshire Red… aaah!
Are you ready for some action? Our school holiday activities include Zorbing, Segways, and Archery! Perfect for settling family bragging rights!
So, occasionally there’s the odd day when a splash of rain interrupts the day! Even the most active of families won’t be bored waiting for the sunshine to show its face again!
Swim and splash to your heart’s content in our indoor pool. Feel the heat and treat yourself in our sauna and steam room, our favourite way to unwind.
Bring your swag bag full of loose change – you could hit the jackpot in our amusements arcade. How about a game of Bowlingo to keep the competitive siblings happy!

I just want to say how impressed my fellow Motorhomers and Caravaners were with the welcome and service we received during our stay. Staff in the office were polite and helpful at all times. Scott the restaurant manager was most accommodating when I enquired about reserving space for 25 to 30 of us for lunch after a walk. The service in the restaurant was speedy the food hot and varied. We were very pleased with the standards. Staff in the restaurant were cheerful and polite and helped make our meal most enjoyable. We had such a good time that we will be returning again next year for our Xmas Rally.

We usually camp 3 times a year and hire a caravan after the Christmas break at Cofton, and will continue to do so. We thoroughly recommend staying there. Great for families or just the 2 of you.
