Tips and tricks for easy breezy static caravan short breaks
28 June 2017
We’ve specialised in creating easy breezy static caravan short breaks for some time now. We’ve seen the best tips, trips and hacks that make your time away so relaxing and stress-free. In fact, there are now some things we do as standard to make our static caravan short breaks as easy as possible. We’ll make up the beds for you with soft cotton sheets, fluffy pillows and give you fresh, cosy towels as standard. All our kitchens are also fully equipped, right down to a fresh cleaning cloth that should get you started when you’re washing up from your first refreshing cup of tea. That should make packing a little bit lighter!
In over 30 years of experience, plus taking our own families on static caravan short breaks, we’ve seen it all when it comes to recipes, storage and keeping the place clean. Our short break hacks are not only from our own experience, but also from things we’ve seen on social media from Facebook to Pinterest. So sit back and let us make your short break easy breezy…
Revive your tastebuds with food glorious food…
The first thing we all think about; a scrummy breakfast in the morning. Amelia’s Pantry serves breakfast on site every day from 08:00, but as all of our static caravans come with amazing kitchen facilities you’ll be able to cook breakfast for yourself if you fancy it. If you prefer a continental selection you could stock in your caravan’s own fridge freezer with delicacies any deli would be proud of. Or if you want to cook a fry up your way, try some authentic Devon sausages with local bacon and free range eggs. Although promise us that if you do have a fry up, you’ll need to compare it to ours in Amelia’s at least once!
If you really enjoy a good home cooked meal while you’re away on your short break, why not bring your favourite flavourings? A great idea we love is using ‘Tic Tac’ boxes as herb and spice containers. You could also be super-prepared for your first breakfast away with ready-made pancake mix. Oh, and if you have some spare sage knocking about, bring that too – it’s well known to repel bugs. Little things like that save SO much time and allow you to do more with your short break.
Stay organised, make lists lists lists…
We tend to find that the key to stress-free static caravan short breaks is organisation. Making lists or an daily itinerary will make days out and trips to the beach a lot easier. There’s nothing worse than having to head back to the caravan because you’ve forgotten your suncream, trust us! Lists are also a good way of starting off a scavenger hunt for the kids (big or small!)…
Be cool in the pool…
It’s absolutely scorching at Cofton right now and making sure you drink enough water and fluids is so important. Of course, with two on-site pools and leisure facilities there’s plenty of places to cool down but taking care of yourself is important. After all, you want to go home from your short break refreshed not dehydrated!
All in for a movie night…
We have wonderful entertainment all year round at Cofton, but just in case you fancy a family night in we’ve got LCD TV’s in our caravans as well as blu-ray players in some. With our built in speaker system too, you’ll feel like you have your own personal cinema. Make sure you get the popcorn and snacks in!
Choosing the right place…
You can view all of our static caravan interiors as well as the floor plan for each model to give you an idea about what they’re really like on our Caravan Holidays page. Our static caravan short breaks are great because each one is different and has different suitability for different size families, as well as some with disabled access. At Cofton, you won’t have to worry about the big things like whether the water’s hot or the beds are comfy, we take all the worry out a short break by paying special attention to the finer details.
Some of your kind words...

I just want to say how impressed my fellow Motorhomers and Caravaners were with the welcome and service we received during our stay. Staff in the office were polite and helpful at all times. Scott the restaurant manager was most accommodating when I enquired about reserving space for 25 to 30 of us for lunch after a walk. The service in the restaurant was speedy the food hot and varied. We were very pleased with the standards. Staff in the restaurant were cheerful and polite and helped make our meal most enjoyable. We had such a good time that we will be returning again next year for our Xmas Rally.

We usually camp 3 times a year and hire a caravan after the Christmas break at Cofton, and will continue to do so. We thoroughly recommend staying there. Great for families or just the 2 of you.
